Having a healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean that you need to cut strictly on the things you eat or do. On the contrary, it’s about having balance where you can see the entire positive benefits not only in the physical, but in the mental and your overall health. All this, while being able to enjoy the journey and the process toward your goals. There are many struggles that people face, so here I will be talking about some of the common ones and how to overcome them.
First of all you need to set a long term goal on how or what you want to improve; is it losing weight, gaining muscle, improving your blood sugar levels, etc. After having a long term goal you need to set short term goals as well. These will keep you motivated and on track. Make sure to be realistic and to set a time frame. A helpful way to find your motivation would be by measuring your progress by taking before and after pictures. You see yourself every day, so seeing the changes in the body sometimes can be difficult, but by taking some photos and comparing them you will be able to see the difference for sure. Form small habits, instead of making drastic changes, make them gradually. Start exercising slowly and little by little increase it; by doing more exercises, getting some weights or heavier weights, or by adding another day to your exercise routine. The same thing goes with eating habits, make small changes at the beginning.
2. Not knowing what to do
There are many exercise plans out there and it can be overwhelming sometimes. I encourage you to set a goal and to talk to your doctor about which exercises you can do if you have any health issues. You can also start by doing exercises that don’t require a lot of equipment. Make sure to start slow and then add more exercises and/ or equipment. I have shared a couple of exercise routines on My YouTube Channel and will be sharing some videos as well in my Social Media Platforms; so make sure to follow me!
Another struggle is having cravings of eating something specific or sweets. I completely understand because I have them too. Something helpful for me is that instead of eating a regular cake or candy, I will make it in a keto way. I have shared a couple of recipes here on my website such as Keto Cheesecake, Keto Mini Donuts, Keto Coffee, Keto Chocolate Coconut Cake, and many more to come. These recipes are simple to make and delicious. I personally don’t follow a full Keto lifestyle, because I need the carbs for energy, but making Keto recipes is a way to have a healthy balance. The key is to be able to have balance in a healthy, delicious and nutritious way.
4. Not seeing the results
Being consistent with exercising and eating healthy will give you the ability to see the results. Sometimes it is difficult because like I mentioned before you see yourself every day. A helpful way will be by taking pictures of you and comparing them. The key is to be consistent. We all sometimes want immediate results and forget about the journey to get there. It’s a slow process but quitting won’t speed it up. You got this!
Don’t let others get into your mind or compare yourself to others. It doesn’t matter if others reached their goals before you or if they are not motivating you, or if others don’t make helpful comments. It doesn’t matter! Because at the end of the day it is your journey. You keep going, keep trying and keep working until you get there.
5. Not having time to exercise
Our every day schedules can be busy and I get it. I’m a mom of two kids, a 6-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter, so some days can be crazy and extremely busy. Plus, I used to work twelve-hour shifts. Even with all of that, I found time to exercise. You need to make it a priority and set aside time in your daily schedule, and it doesn’t matter if it’s only half an hour or just three days a week. If you really want it, you will find time. It’s like when you want to buy or change something. You make changes in order to save and to be able to get what you really want.
Don’t worry if you don’t have equipment or time to go to the gym. You can work out at your home, like I do. It is convenient and there are no excuses not to workout. You don’t need equipment to start exercising; there are many routines without equipment. You can do this!
Enjoy the journey!
